Development News
We are well under well with our Capital Campaign and need lots of support
now more than ever! Over the next week, members from our Development
Committee will be talking to you all individually about the Capital Campaign
and New Campus Project. John Parker will be finished with his work soon and
then it is time for us to come together as a community and build our new
school! Please start to think about your family's personal commitment to
this project. Also, please feel free to share with Committee Members some
names of friends and family members who may be interested in helping us see
this project through. Thank you for support!!

Official School News

Next Board Meeting: Mon, Jan. 17, 6:30 pm.

Georg Locher from England is here this week!!! It is not too late to sign up
for his lecture tonight at the Grange and for his workshop on Saturday!
Tonight's lecture at 6:30 pm is on "The Child's Need for Form, Order, and
Discipline - RYTHMS OF TIME IN LEARNING AND TEACHING - THE WALDORF AAPROACH,
and Saturday's workshop from 10 - 1 is on Wet-on-Wet Watercolor Painting
and why we do it - ARTS AND CRAFTS IN THE WALDORF CURRICULUM. Childcare
available. Georg is a renowned Waldorf veteran with a wealth of knowledge
and experience. Don't miss him! He is very charismatic and a lot of fun!

This year's downhill ski program at Suicide Six got off to a great start. It
is still not too late to join. There are five Fridays and one professional
instruction remaining. The price is $105 per student. Please contact Jim
Veneziano if you are interested.

Martin Luther King Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 17 with an all
school assembly at 2:00 in the Grange. Classes 3rd through 8th will be
presenting songs, poems and skits. The all school chorus will sing songs as
a finale. The school presentation will be preceded by a parent discussion at
1:30. We will bring several short articles to prompt discussion. Email
jtharinger@gmail.com if you would like to have them beforehand. Our small
committee wanted to discuss the general topic of hate speech in our culture
and specifically how it relates to our children. How do we respond to our
children when hate speech comes up innocently at home or at school?
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend both events.

Some parents have asked why we don't take the day off as a way to celebrate.
The faculty feels it is more educational to celebrate this festival in
school. Moreover, with four day weeks in January it is inadvisable to take
a second day off during these short weeks.

New Campus Update

The contractors are preparing for the electrical and plumbing inspection
this week. If everything looks good to the inspectors, sheet-rocking will
begin shortly thereafter.

Volunteer with truck or van needed: Dead River Company in Woodstock has
donated a new full size dishwasher to the school. We need a volunteer to
pick it up in Woodstock and deliver it to the new campus. Gas reimbursement

Fundraisers and Special Events

Dear Parents --I talked with Amy Rosalbo yesterday and she let me know that
so far we only have 50% participation from Wellspring families for the New
Campus Capital Contributions. It is important to the school to have 100% of
our families support the new campus with their donations. I want to let you
know that even if you can only send a small amount to the New Campus, that
every little bit counts -- The most important piece is that we have 100%
participation! If you can send, $1, $5, $10, $15, $25, or more - even
though these are small numbers overall, it counts!!!!!!! Please email Amy

Happy New Year! We have just reached the $200,000 mark in our fundraising
efforts. Our goal is $500,000 by 2013. Before the holiday break, you were
all sent a "Wish List" with items needed to finish the school. We are also
soliciting local businesses for donations of supplies. We thought that this
might be a good tool for you to help in the final stages of deciding how you
can contribute. We are always solicitating prospective donors towards the
Campaign as well. In the next few weeks members from our Development
Committee will be talking to you about the New Campus Project. Please feel
free to share with them some names of friends and family members who may be
interested in donating. Thank you for support!!

New Campus Update: January Edition

Welcome! Jack Rossi recently provided these photos so here's a little virtual tour of how things look at the new campus these days.

Gently rolling hills: future site of snow structures and creatures, capture-the-flag, maybe even that soccer/rugby mash-up game the seventh graders invented recently. Probably some curriculum-related activities, too.

Not far into the building from the main entrance an elevator can be spied. What other wonders will this building include?

How about a sprinkler system? Installation in progress in the classrooms.

Turn right from the main foyer and look down the hall towards the kitchen.


Many windows in the kitchen provide ample natural light plus a wonderful view of the Tunbridge landscape.

put the eurythmy shoes, which many children are still using, away to save
them.

Thanks to our Professional Development Grant from the Supervisory Union we
were able to invite Georg Locher from England to come to our school for the
week of January 10. He is a renowned Waldorf veteran with a wealth of
knowledge and experience. He will be evaluating our teachers, work with the
faculty, and offer lectures and workshops for the parents. Please keep the
week of January 10 open, especially Saturday Jan. 15. Don't miss him! He is
very charismatic and a lot of fun!

The Ski Program is starting this Friday. For those not participating, these
Fridays are considered home-schooling days. In separate email please find
important information regarding this year's program.
Please look this over and be sure contact information is correct. Classes
begin this Friday at 9:30 sharp. If you have any questions regarding the
program contact Jim Veneziano, carpooling contact Anne Carroll and chaperone
questions should go to Jamie Kidder.

New Campus Update

Our subcontractors (and a few volunteers) have been busy over the break
installing electrical, plumbing, sprinkler and communication systems. John
hopes to begin sheetrocking in mid-January.

Fundraisers and Special Events

We are looking forward to a prosperous fundraising year in 2011! With plans
to occupy our new school in the Fall, a lot of preparation will be done this
winter.
You all have received a copy of the "Wish List" of supplies for the new
school. The Construction Committee, Development Committee and Board of
Trustees are working together to accumulate those items in order to complete
the project on time. Any contribution you or any family or friend could make
to the "Wish List" would be appreciated!
Please look forward to some information about Parent Class Meetings that
will be held in January and February to outline and review giving and
volunteerism at the new campus.
The Development Committee, along with the Construction Committee are meeting
Wed, January 5 th at 6 pm at the Big House. We could use more members,
suggestions or any ideas you may have. Feel free to attend the meeting or
give whatever input that is important to you to Amy Rosalbo.

Official School News

The board had its first meeting in the new building last night among the
studded walls. The construction committee and development committee also met
with the board. You can see each class room structure now. The place has a
lot of good energy already from all the folks who have physically put their
time and thoughtful concerns into this new school. The budget is tight and
we are going to be needing all parents' support to get to the place where we
are painting the walls and celebrating. Our plan is to raise the next amount
of funds through an Obama style campaign. Basically ask a lot of people for
a little bit of money. There will be more information coming. Meanwhile
stop in on Sat. on your way to the auction. You will be amazed.
