SAVE THE DATE for Wellspring Community Celebration for the New Campus – Saturday April 10^th 6:30 – 8:30 at the new building.  Hear about renovation plans.  Dessert potluck and family dance with music by Nancy’s Problem. 

 

As you are doing your spring cleaning, think of the Wellspring yard sale this July. Books, clothes, sports equipment, furniture, all in good working condition please! We are looking for a new Development Director! Don’t worry, Mary will stay on the committee, but she doesn’t want to head it up any more. This is a paid position – 20 hours per week. Please call the office if you are interested or know of anyone who might be. Thanks.

 

New Campus Volunteer Director

Wellspring School is seeking applicants for the position of New Campus Construction Volunteer Coordinator (V.C.).  The V.C. will serve as a liaison between the General Contractor, community volunteers and the New Campus Coordinator. The ideal candidate is a Wellspring community member, generally familiar with the construction/building related talents and abilities of the larger community and has excellent organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities include: assessing and categorizing the skills and interests of the Wellspring community as they relate to providing construction labor for the new campus project; determining with the General Contractor, the need for volunteer labor and scheduling volunteers accordingly; tracking volunteer hours and reporting hours to the Administrator. This is a part-time position running the duration of the renovation project approximately mid-April through December 2010)  This position would require availability through the summer months as well. 

 

Our next Open House will be held on Sat April 3, 9:30 to 11:00 am.  A great opportunity for parents of young children to come participate in bread making, circle time, etc with our fabulous N/K teachers.  Families interested in the grades will have an opportunity to tour the school and meet with a grades teacher who will be able to answer questions about curriculum and the school in general.

 

Parents, a new shipment of Ostheimer wooden figures has arrived at the School Store just in time for Easter (hens, chicks, bunnies, Canada geese, etc.).  Come by this week during school hours to shop.

String Program Reminders
April 1:  Concert at the Three Stallion Inn from 6:00 to 8:00 to raise money for Haiti featuring Peter Blum, Amos Byrne, and various other musicians.
April 2:  Michele George teaching at Wellspring.  I must finalize who is coming tomorrow morning.  Please e-mail me at skiingcellist@yahoo.com by 8:00 am tomorrow to sign up.  The fee is $18 for a group, $12 per person for an ensemble, and $25 for a private with a sliding scale available.
April 7:  The Middle School Sectionals have their concert on April 7 at 7 pm at the South Royalton School.  Participating students include Amos Byrne, Moriah Post-Kinney, and Rose Pytte in orchestra and Leland Goodenough, Maia Lavoy, and Kate Mazzarella in chorus.  All are invited to the concert which includes musicians from all area schools.
May 1:    Deadline for early registration special for our summer Suzuki Workshop from June 22 to 24.  Information is at www.nesuzuki.com.  Wellspring students pay $25 less than the internet pricing until May 1.

This outdoor, hands-on workshop offers basic practical information for those interested in growing fruit trees for home use. Covers the basics of planting and maintaining apple, pear, and stone fruit trees, either individually or in small home orchards. Addresses topics such as tree siting, selection of varieties, the use of already established homestead trees (i.e., for pollination or grafting), seasonal management, organic pest control, fencing, pruning, cider making, storage, and more--as well as where to find further resources. We'll meet at the Lost Meadow Land Coop in West Corinth, in a newly planted orchard within a circle of old farmstead trees. Workshop will go till 12:30; feel free to bring a bag lunch and stay later for further pruning practice or instruction (bring nippers, small shears or hand saw.)
