The next board meeting is on Monday, November 8, at 6:30 pm. Meetings are
open to all, and we are always looking for new, committed members!

Halloween - this Thursday at 1:30 pm at the Grange. Tasteful comfortable
costumes, no masks and only light makeup (when in doubt talk to your
teacher).

Parent conferences are coming up: Thursday and Friday November 4 & 5.
Please look for sign-up sheets. Dismissal 12:30 pm.

Georg Locher from England will be coming to our school next January for a
whole week. He is a Waldorf graduate, taught at Michael Hall Rudolf Steiner
School for 25 years, directed Steiner Waldorf Teacher Education at Emerson
College for 14 years, and works for Antioch advising schools and evaluating
teachers. He has tremendous wealth of knowledge, experience, and talent. We
will ask him to give a talk to parents as well. Look for more info later in
the year.

Thanks for everyone who made our first Parent Council meeting. We made 20
pocket man items for the Holiday Fair and talked a little about simplifying
our lives (and other recommendations from Kim Payne's new book). There are
a few more copies of his book on reserve in the Chelsea Library if anyone is
interested - it is remarkable! The next Parent Council meeting is planned
for Monday, November 15th (after drop off in the library), we will wrap
pocket man items and talk about simplicity and the holidays.

School and Class Photos: last chance for orders: end of this week. $5
apiece. Please call or email in your orders. Link:

Classrooms Shaping Up at the New Campus

Classrooms are shaping up at the new campus.
There are still tasks that could easily been done by volunteers from the Wellspring community. Dave Williams will be on site this Saturday from 9 - 11. Other work times are also available.

Stone wall around the Nursery/Kindergarten play yard.
The recent rain has primed the site for grass seed to be spread in certain areas. Get in touch with Dave Williams if you'd like to participate in this particularly "Waldorf-y" volunteer job, or any other at the new campus.

Fire escape.
Thank you to Dave Sweet, Larry Satcowitz and Dave Williams for valuable labor put in last week.

Nursery/Kindergarten teacher Laura Williams surveys the scene from a knoll on our spacious new grounds. All should feel free to stop by any time to explore the grounds and check out the progress of the building and yards.

LOCAL WORK, GLOBAL AID: In response to 350.org¹s call for an international
climate change work day this fall, a group of students and faculty at The
Mountain School would like to work to raise money for Ladakh, India, which
has recently been severely affected by flooding. We are looking for jobs in
the area that we can perform to earn money to help counteract some of the
major negative effects of climate change. It would be great if these jobs
were related to preventing climate change, such as weatherization of houses,
getting in wood or garden harvests, but we are open to any jobs that can be
done by a group of teenagers in 1-3 hours.
For Elementary students who are interested in helping earn money with us,
parents could pay them for doing household chores, and they can give the
money to us to donate.
Our actual day of work is going to take place in the morning of Saturday
October 9th. We will also be hosting cider pressing and a bike repair stand
at the Vershire harvest fest at the Vershire Town Center on that day and any
donations made will go to the same cause. For more information, please
